Highbury Corner is all about transport but it’s getting an overhaul that may lead it to become the sort of place you’d like to linger without soaking up traffic fumes – and that’s good because it’s also the heart of the borough. Close to here you might find Canonbury locals:
- The Canonbury artist Gary Power and be inspired by his oil paintings at the Canonbury Tavern. It’s not far from where Ursula Arens works on nutrition advice – One Blue Dot is all about environmental eating.
- Find out more about George Orwell on a walk with historian Andy Gardner. There’s also a parody chat with George Orwell (who was of course long dead before this website was set up) which you can read here.
- The Hen & Chickens is the base for Unrestricted View film festival director James Wren (well matched to this pub by name too!)
- The amazing Italian futurist art at the Estorick Collection, and Estorick Director Roberta Cremonici. There’s a good cafe here too.
- A few minutes walk from Highbury Corner is Freightliners Farm. Here’s an interview with the farm manager, Liz McAllister.
Everyone loves Highbury Fields. It’s a place to spot:
- Dog trainer Robert Stuhldreer
- Daisy the dog, author of The Dogs of Highbury Fields.
